The State’s Department of Sericulture is initiating various schemes towards the upliftment of women, especially women living in rural areas, through gender budgeting.
Under Intensive Bivoltine silkworm development project, a total of 400 women have benefited through integration of women in silkworm host plant cultivation, mobilizing Self Help Groups, organizing awareness programmes and capacity building about their rights and responsibilities in the society, according to the annual administrative report 2015-16 of Sericulture Department tabled in the state assembly session recently.
The report stated that sensitization, workshop on women education in mother and child health care are one of the major emphasis in this gender budgeting, thus directly sustains the economic living condition of family livelihoods among the members of the women.
An amount of Rs. 30 lakhs has been incurred during 2015-16 towards this programme, the report added.
