DIMAPUR, MARCH 12 (MExN): The 14th Annual Sports Meet of School of Engineering and Technology (SET), Nagaland University Dimapur was held from March 7 to 11 at the State Sports Academy Ground under the theme ‘Tradition Honor Passion.’
The opening ceremony commenced with a speech and was kicked off by Moayanger Jamir, President, Dimapur Naga Students Union &Youth Icon ,encouraging them to be persistent and to refine their talents.
The union, staff and teachers of SET, NU assisted in organising the event which saw more than 650 students participating in different games and sports. Events were held in the disciplines of Volleyball, Cricket, Badminton, Table Tennis, High Jump, 100, 400 and 1X 400 (metres) relay race, Shot Put etc.
Preliminary matches were played by all the four teams from March 7 to 11 in order to encourage participation of every team and to ensure fair play in selections for the finals which were played during the sports meet. The final event included tug of war, both boys and girl of all teams, namely Team Spartan, Team Titan, Team Kings and Team Vanguard.
Team Spartan was declared the overall champion of sports meet.
The meet concluded with a closing function where Arvind Damani, National Executive Member, PJYM annd entrepreneur gave a speech. This was followed by the prize distribution. The vote of thanks was proposed by the Games and Sports Secretary, SETSU, Nagaland University School Of Engineering And Technology Students’ Council.
