Nagaland Advisor for Tourism and Art & Culture, H Khehovi Yeputhomi today virtually inaugurated seven projects funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
The project includes Pilgrimage Facilitation Centre Aizotu, Zunheboto under Prasad scheme amounting to Rs 650.84 lakh. The others are under Swadesh Darshan schemes including Dikhu Eco Resort, Tribal Circuit in New Peren, Tizit Eco Resort in Mon, Ungma Tribal Hub, Suteplenden Waterfall Mokokchung and Doyang Eco Resort, Wokha amounting to Rs 11337.44 lakh.
Addressing the gathering during the programme at Tourism Department, Khehovi said that the assets created will cater to the needs of the tourist and fulfill the aims and objective of the project which is to promote tourism as a catalyst for economic growth and create more employment opportunities for the community.
He said that it would also create awareness to local communities about the importance of tourism in terms of increased sources of income, improved living standards and overall development of the area and most importantly to promote our rich cultural heritage.
He said that to develop professionalism and modernism with a focus on in depth infrastructure development, the Government is now concentrating in capacity building programs for creating employment in the hospitality industry to meet the growing demand in the sector.
Tourism Director, KM Rio delivered the welcome address, Rokovituo Tep shared the project summary and Deputy Director Toka E Tuccumi tendered the vote of thanks. The programme was chaired by Additional Director of Tourism Department, Viyelo Doulo.
