Several organizations extend festive greetings

Dimapur, December 21 (MExN): Several organizations today extended Christmas and New Year greetings. NSCN (K): The Chairman and President Lt. Gen.(Rtd.) Khango Konyak along with all the rank and file of NSCN (K) has conveyed heartiest Christmas and New Year greetings to all the Nagas and every believer of Jesus Christ across the world .   “Amid thousands of death and misfortunes, it is indeed an exceptional providence enabling each of us to culminate the year long struggle in contentment and joyful celebration and to look forward to another year in faith and hope,” the NSCN (K) said in a statement issued by its MIP in-charge Col. Isak Sumi.

  “Not in worldly pomp, gluttony and drunken revelry may we celebrate the birth of the world's redeemer but in solemn and humble gratitude, love and kind sharing that the arrival of our Lord saviour be honoured and glorified,” it added.  

The NSCN (K) further wished that this Christmas “add another milestone of maturity in our faith and belief in Christ Jesus and may his flourishing love and peace enrich the lives of each and every believer during the season and even as we prepare to step into another year 2018 we consign our entire lives in the loving hands of our Lord saviour.”  

NMA: The Naga Mothers Association (NMA) also conveyed Merry Christmas to all. “May the joy and happiness of the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ fill each one of us with a renewed heart and spirit,” it added in a press release. “And as we welcome the Prince of Peace, may the wonder of His Love guide and allow Peace to reign in our hearts and our land forever.” During this festive period, NMA also appealed to all to restrain from violence and abstain in any form of intimidation or threats which can dampen the spirit of the joyous celebration. “Let this Christmas message of Love and Peace be spread in its fullest form. Further, let us also welcome the New Year prayerfully with hope that it will usher a year of bountiful and prosperity.”  

NPCC: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) also wished Merry Christmas and Happy New year. In a press release, it expressed sadness over the persecution of Christians elsewhere in the country. Stating that Christians are warned with dire consequences if they celebrate Christmas; churches are dismantled, foreign contributions for Mission and Charity works have been stopped and even scholarships to theological student are deprived today, it said, as Congress members, they do not approve the above actions. “The Hindutva fundamentalists have declared mental and psychological war against minority religions.” NPCC appealed to all right thinkers, minority communities and especially Christian members to join them to “fight back in the war of religious discrimination.” It further wished all to celebrate Christmas in the true Christian spirit.  

WDCC&I: In a separate press release, the Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCC&I) extended to all business community and general public of Wokha “a very happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.” It also informed all businesses to decorate their shops and remain open till 6:00 pm during the festive season. The statement from WDCC&I General Secretary Abenthung Ngullie and Press Secretary Thunglamo Odyuo further directed all commercial and business sectors in the district not to charge high price taking advantage of the festive season. Meanwhile, it appealed to all to maintain peace and calm during the season in the town.
