Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): Dimapur Police made several arrests in the last few days for different crimes.
On September 16, eight women were rescued and three persons were arrested during a raid conducted by women police personnel at two hotels – Natraj Luxury Inn and Travellers Inn at New Market, informed a press release from Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur. The arrested persons have been identified as Azekur Ali (22), Robikul Islam, and Nivas Das (35). A case has been registered under various sections of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and further investigation is on, the release said.
The Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone II of Dimapur Police on September 15 around 3:30 pm apprehended one person named Toluvi Zhimo (34), Rajapeyu of NSCN (IM) while extorting money from a business establishment at Dhobinalla in the name of NSCN (IM), the press release informed. A sum of Rs. 390/- was seized from his possession and a case has been registered against him with further investigation on, it added.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch PHQ apprehended one person identified as Samuel Yimchunger (34) and recovered one .22 pistol with two live rounds from his possession at Blue Hill Station area on September 15.
On September 13 around 11:45 am, AET Zone-I of Dimapur Police apprehended one Inavi Zhimo (21) while collecting illegal tax from business establishments in the name of GPRN/NSCN, the PRO further informed, adding Rs. 1760/- was seized from his possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered and investigation is on.
9th NAP (IR) personnel while conducting MVCP at Neisatou colony, Dimapur on September 13 around 9:15 pm intercepted one white Maruti Gypsy without registration number. On frisking, one 7.65 pistol with magazine and five live rounds were recovered from the possession of one person identified as Vikato Aye, Rajupeyu of NSCN (IM), according to the release. The person was arrested and a case has been registered at West PS and investigation is on.
One person was apprehended by the residents of Darogapathar village while he was demanding “illegal tax” from the business establishments of the area in the name of an underground faction on September 13. The accused Lieut Kughavi Assumi (35) of NNC was handed over to the police along with the FIR. A case was registered at DPR PS and investigation is on.
Meanwhile, on September 10 around 11:00 am, East Police Station duty party while on routine checking apprehended one person, Kayes Ahmed (27), for selling illegal pre-activated SIM Card from Blue Hill area, Dimapur. 16 pre-activated SIM cards - 7 Aircel, 5 Airtel, 3 Vodafone, 1 Idea - were seized from him, the release said. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
The PRO release further informed that on September 9, two persons identified as Tovito Kiba (23) and Bishu Debbarma were stabbed by unknown person at Bamun Pukhuri. Tovito Kiba, reportedly an NSCN (R) cadre, was grievously injured in the abdomen and was admitted to Zion Hospital while the other victim Bishu Debbarma, an auto driver, received injuries in his chest and was admitted to Civil Hospital, Dimapur, it said. The incident happened when the two persons had allegedly gone to the colony to collect yearly tax in the name of NSCN (R). A suo motto case has been registered and investigation is on, it was informed.
In connection with FIR lodged where one autorickshaw bearing registration NL07F 5672 was stolen from NIDC Complex (Industrial Estate), Dimapur on September 3 around 9:30 pm, Dimapur Police arrested one person identified as Khamto Khiam and recovered the stolen auto from his possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered at West PS and investigation is on, the release said.
