SHAMATOR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): Shamator District joined the nation in celebrating International Literacy Day with a special focus on multilingual education and girl child empowerment on September 14.
The event was held under the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" (BBBP) initiative, and was highlighted by a series of activities and speeches emphasizing the importance of education for girls.
Chubatemjen, DC Shamator, was the distinguished guest at the event. In his keynote address during the launch of the BBBP initiative, Chubatemjen spoke about the benefits of the scheme and urged girl students to take advantage of the opportunities provided.
The keynote address was followed by remarks from Kudazo Swuro, EAC, who elaborated on the purpose and objectives of the BBBP program, focusing on its role in enhancing educational support for girls.
Newkai, a Post Graduate Teacher at GHSS Shamator, addressed the audience on the theme of the day. She discussed the vital role of literacy and multilingual education in fostering mutual understanding and peace.
As part of the celebrations, a speech competition was held on the topic "The importance of girl child education." Dorila Y from Class 12 won first place, while Lumzancha Z from Class 11 secured second place, and Luntsula Geneve, also from Class 11, took third place. The winners were recognized with certificates and cash prizes for their exceptional presentations.
In addition to these activities, SDO (C) Athrong launched the Adolescent Girls' Club at GHSS Shamator. During this launch, he outlined the various activities and programs planned under the BBBP initiative aimed at supporting and empowering adolescent girls in the district.
