Kohima, September 1 (MExN): The President of Naga People’s Front (NPF), Central Headquarters, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, on behalf of the rank and file of the party, today wished the Sangtam Nagas a joyous Mongmong festival.
Just as the traditional premier festival of the Sangtam Nagas exemplifies “togetherness” of the community by way of sharing special food items, clearing of village areas, planting of tree branches and hanging nettle leaves on the walls to ward off diseases and evil spirit, Dr Shürhozelie wished that it should be the endeavour of all to strengthen the bond of filial relationship amongst various communities, participate in nationwide movement for cleanliness at all levels, and to ward off diseases to ensure health for all, stated a press release from Media & Press Bureau, NPF Central Headquarters.
He viewed that observing traditional practices such as Mongmong festival in the right spirit will bind Nagas to their roots. Mongmong 2017 should bring the Naga communities closer to each other as well as with other communities in the society, he wished.
