Kohima, March 23 (MExN): Radiant Cricket Club and Whiskers Cricket Club, Dimapur today booked their semifinal berths of the 8th Silver Cup T2- Cricket Tournament. Organised by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department, the tournament is being played at the Jakhama Local Ground on the theme “Peace and Unity through Cricket”. Playing the third quarterfinal match, Radiant CC defeated KODH CC by 114 runs. Radiant CC electing to bat set a target of 189 runs in 20 overs with major contributions coming from Jintu with 41 runs. Miki and Biki chipped in with 29 and 25 runs respectively. KODH CC bowler, Martin claimed 4 wickets. In the run chase, KODH CC was bundled out for 74 runs. John (21) and Samuel (18) toiled for runs but received no assistance from fellow teammates. Radiant’s Tusenfa picked 4 wickets while Imli claimed 2. Jintu was awarded the Player of the match for his 41 runs with the bat. In the last quarterfinal match, visiting team Shillong Mavericks were sent packing by Whiskers CC Dimapur. Winning the toss, Whiskers CC elected to bat and set a herculean target of 167 from the 20 overs. Tejasol with a stellar performance scored 75 runs and was aided at the other end by Imliwati (21) and Sanu (15). Mavericks bowlers Lakhan and Nafees picked 3 wickets each. Chasing the huge target, Shillong Mavericks fell short by 28 runs as they were all out in 19.1 overs scoring 138 runs. Raj Biswas top scored for Mavericks with 55 runs while Kalam and Saibal scored 20 and 18 runs respectively. Whiskers’ bowler Hokaito grabbed 3 wickets with Sanu and Imliwati each claiming 2 wickets. Tejasol was declared man of the match. With 137 runs so far, he has also become the holder of the tournament’s Red Cap (highest run getter).
