Dimapur, May 15 (MExN): The Election Commission of India has ordered a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 16 states and three Union Territories, including Nagaland, with the final electoral roll for the state scheduled for publication on November 22, 2026.
The qualifying date for the SIR in Nagaland has been fixed as October 1, 2026, Chief Electoral Officer of Nagaland, Bhagyashree Banayat, IAS, said in a notification.
“The schedule of SIR Phase-III has been fixed keeping in view the common field machinery with the ongoing house listing of Census,” the CEO added.
As per the schedule, house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be conducted from August 16 to September 14, following preparation, training and printing from August 5 to August 14.
The draft electoral roll will be published on September 20, with claims and objections to be filed from the same date until October 20. The disposal of claims and objections will continue until November 18, 2026.
The CEO has requested all political parties to appoint Booth Level Agent (BLAs) for each Polling Booth, in order to ensure full participation of political parties so that “SIR is conducted with complete transparency and full participation of political parties.”
