Reiterates not to allow taxation under any road construction schemes
Kiphire, January 19 (MExN): Sitimi Area GBs Union, Sitimi Area Sangtam Students’ Union (SASSU) and Sumi Students’ Union Sitimi Town (SSUST) inspected the ongoing road construction works from L-022 to Shishimi village under PMGSY scheme and Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Correction work between Sitimi to Seyochung.
During the inspection conducted on January 17, the team expressed “serious concern over poor quality workmanship” and urged the contractors to undertake construction work as per the Detailed Project Work (DPR) to ensure that quality of workmanship is provided.
The three organisations strongly reiterated that it would not compromise on quality workmanship and would leave no stone unturned if found lapses on any road construction work under its jurisdiction, stated the joint release issued by Sitimi Area GB's Union President, K Sahoto Yeptho GB, Sitimi Area Sangtam Students' Union President, Edward P Sangtam and Sumi Students' Union Sitimi Town Vice President Kapito H Yeputho.
While assuring its fullest cooperation, the joint organisations also urged the contractors to work as per the specifications, failing which the three organisation will take its own course of action.
They also reaffirmed the Sitimi Area GB’s Union Resolution dated November 27, 2021 that no individuals or groups (factions) will be allowed to collect any form of taxation under any road construction schemes within Sitimi area, which will hamper the development of road construction, putting the future of our Area at stake.
If any individuals or groups (factions) are found collecting any form of taxation under the construction of road within the area of Sitimi, it will be strongly dealt with necessary actions by the three organisation with its own course of action as per the resolution, they cautioned.
