Kohima, November 23 (MExN): The 2nd annual Dr Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award was held on November 22 at Hotel De Oriental, Kohima.
A press release received here stated that six women including Alokali Yepthomi, Kumsutoli Assumi, Kivikali N Chishi, Ativi K Zhimomi, Tonoli Z Kibami, and Bovikali V Chophi were felicitated at the award ceremony.
Dr Thejavinuo Kire, Trustee, spoke on behalf of the Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation, Kaheli Jakhalu, Advisor KSTH & Former member of NSCW Nagaland and Khevito T Shohe, President KSH spoke on behalf of Sümi Totimi Hoho and Sümi Hoho respectively.
Dr. Bokai Assumi spoke on behalf of the families of the awardees. Aboli Chike, Asst. Prof. Oriental College Kohima chaired the programme.
Dr. Toshevi Sümi Totimi MBBS Award is an initiative of Dr. Toshevi Keditsu Sema, the first lady doctor from the Sümi tribe of Nagaland. She completed her MBBS in the year 1977 from Guwahati Medical College. This award is officiated by Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation in collaboration with Sümi Totimi Hoho, and presented annually to Sümi women who qualify to study graduate medical course (MBBS) though the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in India. This award comprises of a certificate and cash prize of one lakh.
