Dimapur, March 7 (MExN): The opening ceremony of 6th Athlitika Kai Festivporium Meet, 2023 with the motto ‘Citius, Atitius, Fortius’, was conducted by students of St Joseph University (SJU) on March 6.
It was organised under the supervision of St Joseph University Students’ Council and hosted by Dr Patrick, Department of Economics and Dr Alemmenla Walling, Department of English with N Jacob Yanthan, Additional Director of Agriculture as the guest of honour, stated a press release.
N Jacob Yanthan in his address said that games, sports and cultural events plays major role in the academic development of students as it enhances the growth of co-curricular activities. He mentioned such events bring togetherness and directional positive values which will ultimately create unity, coordination, cooperation and connectivity.
Earlier, the ceremony began with invocation by Rev Fr Augustin, MMI Representative (SJU), and welcome speech by Stephen J Kithan, President, (SJUSC) and special performance by Aamong & Imkumlila. The programme concluded with the lighting of the torch and unfurling of the flag by the special guest.
