SJU conducts workshop on essence of photojournalism

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 19 (MExN): On World Photography’s Day, Media Club in collaboration with Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima conducted a workshop on Essence of Photojournalism at Seminar Hall, SJU on August 19.

The programme was also a part of observation of World Photography Day. Journalist cum photojournalists Imti Longchar, attached with The Morung Express attended the workshop as resource person who shared his expertise, challenges and prospect of being a journalist in general and photojournalist specifically, a press release issued by the SJU informed. 

During his discourse, he dwelt on the necessity of informed consent, ethical issues, respect for the subject and readiness whenever the circumstances called for. Imti Longchar also shared about the impact of a picture, published in media and how it educates, creates awareness and provides a platform for discussion for social change. He further highlighted on the capability of a picture to narrate the story and to support a news story for which a photojournalist must be honest and committed. The workshop, which was attended by faculties and students from the Department of journalism and mass communication and other departments, concluded with a question and answer session.
