SJU students attend training on molecular techniques

Dimapur, March 17 (MExN): The Botany students of St Joseph University (SJU), Dimapur attended hands on training programme on molecular techniques at ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema. 

The training programme organized by ICAR was held from March 15 to 17. Altogether 25 students from Botany department of SJU participated in the programme. Mebin Joseph, Assistant Professor, Botany department, SJU was the faculty coordinator.

The training included practical classes on isolation and purification of RNA, Real time PCR for differential gene expression and Molecular detection of diseases and theory classes on PCR in disease investigation, Proteomics, PCR primer designing and Bioinformatics and Real time PCR. Theory and practical classes for the students were taken by scientists Dr H Lalzampuia, Dr JK. Chamuah and Dr Vikram R of ICAR-NRC on Mithun.

The programme was coordinated by Dr H Lalzampuia, Scientist of ICAR. Co-coordinators of the programme were Dr JK Chamuah, Dr Stephen S Hanah, Dr Sunitibala Devi, and Dr Vikram R.
