Dimapur, July 20 (MExN): Nagaland state Minister for Higher Education and Technical Education Temjen Imna Along met the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan at his official residence New Delhi and discuss on the issue of skill development in the state.
The Education Minister apprised the Union Minister that Nagaland has many young educated youth who are potential of taking up in the field of hospitality sector, arts and craft etc. and therefore, he requested the Union Minister to help the Naga Youth with some relaxation in the guidelines and improvised approach to the needs of the unskill youths.
The Union Minister gave a patient hearing and immediately asks his official team to seat with the Minister Temjen Imna to find out the road map of Nagaland for skill development and entrepreneurship training programme.
In continuation to the discussion, the Ministry of Skill Development officials called on the Minister Along at Nagaland House and interacted with him. The ministry official thoroughly discussed point by point to the Minister and their ongoing project in the state.
The ministry official said that there are 250 courses in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of which only few were taken up in the state. The state government can add many more programmes in addition to the present course in ITI also. The teacher resource person for training the trainee can be sourced from other state and private sector for trainee in those new courses.
Under PMKVY programme, 20% of students can also go out to other states for training in any course under the skill development programme. In the central ministry there are 18 ministry run skill training in various field. Besides the skill development department in Nagaland, like high technical education under polytechnic, prison department for short course for the inmates in the jail, art and culture department and also under NEPED piggery course can be obtained. However, every department or organization must register in National Qualification Agency which is a mandatory rule for imparting the training.
A press release further informed that the Central Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship officials will soon visit the state for 2 days to conduct awareness workshop programme on the skill development programme which are implementing in the country.
In the meeting, the following officials from central ministry were present Sunita Sanghi (IES) Senior Adviser and Director General, Ministry of Skill, Development & Entrepreneurship; Rajesh Aggrawal, Director General & Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Mahendra Singh Payal, Head PMKVY NSDC, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Nishtha Vengurlekar, Co-Ordinator, Northeast and LWE areas; Dr Manoj Kumar APS Union Minister, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; and 3 (three) other officer staff.
From the state of Nagaland, Advisor H.Haiying, Advisor, Dr Longriniken, NEPED chairmanKevechutso Duolo, Dy. Resident Commissioner Nagaland House New Delhi Kethosituo Sekhose and Kuolie Mere PRO (IPR) Nagaland House, New Delhi also attended the meeting.
