Mokokchung, May 3 (MExN): Süngratsü village hosted the Süngratsü Green Moatsümong 2025, coinciding with the grand inauguration of the Dr Imtiwapang Aier Sports Complex on May 3.
The event was graced by TR Zeliang, Deputy Chief Minister for Planning & Transformation and National Highways, who officially inaugurated the sports complex and addressed the gathering during the Moatsü celebration.
In his speech, TR Zeliang praised the vision of the Süngratsü Village Council (SVC), Süngratsü Senso Mungdang (SSM), and Süngratsü Mejensanger Putu Menden (SMPM) for combining the celebration of Moatsü with the inauguration of a sports facility named in memory of the late Dr Imtiwapang Aier.
“Late Dr Imtiwapang Aier, my brother-in-law, was an illustrious and upcoming leader who served as Parliamentary Secretary for Geology & Mining and later as Speaker of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly,” said Zeliang. “Naming this complex after him is a fitting tribute to his enduring legacy.”
Highlighting the uniqueness of the event, Zeliang commended the organizers for choosing to celebrate Moatsü in a way that pays homage to a distinguished leader, thereby promoting unity among the Süngratsü and broader Ao communities. He expressed hope that the festival would not only strengthen community bonds but also foster political relationships at district and state levels.
Moatsü, traditionally a time of festivity, friendship, and feasting, was celebrated with a unique touch this year. Cultural performances including Ango Kazu, Sungratsu Watsu Telen, and Nokinketer Tsungsang were featured, alongside a traditional Moatsü feast.
Dignitaries included TN Manen, Advisor for Law & Justice and Land Revenue; Dr Ato T Rhutso, MLA and Chairman DPDB Kohima; Temsunaro Aier, Development Commissioner; and Temjenyabang, Chief Conservator of Forests extended Moatsu greeting.
The celebration also saw participation from MLA Achumbemo Kikon, MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero, Sentiyanger Imchen, Additional Chief Secretary & Finance Commissioner, and several top bureaucrats from the state.
