NEISSR holds farewell for MSW, BSW batches
DIMAPUR, MAY 4 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) on May 2 organised a farewell programme for the outgoing Master of Social Work (MSW, 2023–2025) and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW, 2022–2025) batches at the Bishop Abraham Memorial Hall, Peace Centre, NEISSR, under the theme “Glitz and Glam Gala.”
Dr Y. Hukheli Zhimomi, Assistant Headmistress, Government High School, Toluvi, graced the occasion as the Special Guest. In her address, Dr Zhimomi lauded the institutional culture of NEISSR and praised the strength, values, and potential of its students. She stated that the world is in need of change-makers—individuals who are bold, kind, and grounded in strong values.
Emphasising the urgent need to train more professional social workers in order to transform Nagaland at all levels, she urged the students to serve their communities with humility and to find fulfillment in giving themselves in service to others.
Delivering a motivational address, Dr Fr C.P. Anto, Principal of NEISSR, highlighted the role of holiness as a foundation for both professional and personal life. He congratulated the graduates not only for their academic accomplishments but also for contributing meaningfully to the institution through fieldwork, leadership, mentorship, and spiritual engagement. He encouraged them to move forward as peace builders equipped with compassion, resilience, and insight.
Messages were also delivered by Assistant Professors Dr Toli H. Kiba and Vizosu Kikhi. Dr Toli reminded students that social work is a lived experience rooted in compassion, justice, and humility. Vizosu called upon the trainees to act as torchbearers of social transformation and peace, encouraging them to step into the world not only as job seekers but as nation builders.
Representatives from the graduating classes, Joyba C. Sangtam (MSW) and Souvane (BSW), shared reflections and expressed gratitude to the institution and faculty. A special song was performed by Opangkokla Aier.
The event began with an invocation by Tenglitsula and a welcome address by Bovitoli. The ceremony was hosted by Robin and Lemrila R., and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sensile Magh, MSW 2nd semester.
