Kohima | January 22

A Co-ordination Committee of Naga Civil Societies has been formed at a consultative meeting of Naga Civil Societies and Tribal bodies convened by Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) at NBCC’s Platinum Hall, Kohima on January 22.

The committee represented by Naga Hoho, Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO), Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) and Nagaland GB Federation (NGBF) has been formed to take the responsibility of strengthening unity among Naga civil organizations in particular and the society in general.

The NJCF had called the consultative meeting of the Tribal Hohos and civil society organizations to deliberate on the prevailing socio-political situation in Nagaland.

NJCF President, Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho in his opening remark said that solution and state election lies outside the perimeter of the Church. The church’s role is to work for Free and fair election and build up a society that will honour God, he said adding it is also the responsibility of the church to bring our people together in a house that is divided and build mutual trust among our people. “Therefore, with that intention NJCF took upon itself to convene the meeting,” he said.

Members expressed their views and mind for the need to come together and take stock of the situation rather than sail in their own boats.

Calls for meeting on Jan 25

Meanwhile, the Co-ordination Committee has convened an emergency meeting to deliberate on the common slogan of “Solution before Election” on January 25, 10:00 am at the NBCC Platinum Hall, Bayavu Hills, Kohima.

Following the meeting, members representing NGBF, ENPO, Naga Hoho and NTC decided to convene an emergency meeting to deliberate on “Solution before Election”, a joint press release from the five organisations informed.

In this connection, the Coordination Committee has requested all recognized political parties of Nagaland, all Apex Tribal Organisations of Nagaland and Naga Civil Societies of Nagaland to attend the above meeting positively.

The Committee also requested all concern to pray and participate in the meeting to bring out a consensus on the crucial issue at hand.
