South Naga orgs reaffirm to protect ancestral homeland

Newmai News Network Imphal | October 3   Naga organisations in Manipur reaffirmed to defend and protect their ancestral homeland including land and natural resources, history, identity, tradition, culture and time honoured institution “at all cost”. This stand was taken in a joint emergency meeting of the United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women Union(NWU) and the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur(ANSAM) held in Imphal. The meeting also reiterated that the Naga people will oppose any attempt that will dislodge its traditional position on the pretext of development and administrative convenience, Acts, Bills, Orders etc that will affect the Naga people directly or indirectly. Further, the meeting resolved that the Naga people will not accept any bill which is detrimental to the rights and interest of the “indigenous tribal people” under any circumstances.
