Dimapur, January 18 (MExN): ‘Of late, there has been a spate of several seizures of IMFL laden trucks along the NH29,’ informed an update issued by T Arilong Longkumer, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur.

“Accordingly, surveillance measures against such illicit trafficking of contraband have been heightened at crucial checkpoints by the Excise department,” Longkumer stated. 

In a similar case of seizure, the Dimapur District Excise duty party on Monday around 8:00 pm intercepted a Truck bearing registration No- WB 51A 4455, bound for Imphal, Manipur and on frisking the vehicle the duty party recovered 726 cases of assorted IMFL concealed under furniture and household goods.

In this connection, one Aboy Poumai (27 years) was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NLTP Act 1989. 

The duty party was led by Tonika Awomi AIE, Kavito H/C, constables Letrichem, Jungshi, Chingjei, Leihong, Lutachu, Akho, Haotinmang and Kiyerangzaile while on a regular check gate duty.
