Kohima, September 17 (DIPR): Special Summary Revision & training-cum-meeting of EROs and AEROs was held at DC conference hall, Kohima on September 15.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha in his opening remark maintained that to have clean election such Special Summary Revision are required to review the electoral roll from time to time.
Stating that all the necessary equipment will be provided next week, he advised the EROs & AEROs to check the department website as all the important notification is updated as per the Election Commission of India. The CEO also mentioned that election observers from both the state and central will be visiting all the districts and called upon the gathering to work without fear and favor.
DCEO Ruokuovituo Khezhie shared on the importance of legal provision and structures on election matter, while ACEO Awa Lorin spoke on the general instruction and preparation of draft roll. Meanwhile, ACEOR Mhathung informed on the importance of using EVM/VVPAT. He said it has become mandatory as per the direction of Election Commission to ensure and impart training to all the constituencies where VVPAT will be used in the coming election. Therefore, the department has been creating awareness and conducting trainings for familiarization of VVPAT. He informed that the department will undertake special camps in rural hamlets to display and provide hands-on experience to people on the EVM and VVPAT machine. Braille sheets of the EVMs will also be available in all polling stations to facilitate and educate the voters.
AEO (MIS) Ketuosie-u Khruomo dwelt on the importance of ERO Net & IT applications, awareness of the EVM and the need to familiarize electors with the operation of EVM.
DCEO Vekho Vero spoke on SVEEP and thanked DEO for carrying out awareness campaign. He noted that people must be informed to check their names in the electoral roll even if they possess an EPIC. Vekho also pointed out national SVEEP programme having already achieved increased electoral participation over the years now aspires for complete and qualitative participation in the coming years and to stay comprehensively and creatively engaged in the pursuit of the goal.
Addl. CEO informed the summary revision is not only for deletion and addition in the e-roll, but to enroll those people who have completed 18 years of age.
