Spirit of oneness at 75th anniversary of Khonoma Rüffüno

A feeling of oneness surrounded Khonomo as people gathered here today at Terhuotsiese, Khonoma for celebration of the 75th anniversary of Khonoma Rüffüno Nagaland (KRN). Rüffüno is basically a social organization to boost Khonomias’ spirit and for inspiration.
The first day of every September is observed every year as Rüffuno Day. The day provides opportunity to every member to assemble and reason together on various challenges ahead.
The Rüffüno platform provides a space to strengthen unity, mutual understanding and way to reason together to face the various challenges ahead with the fast changing world.
In today’s celebration, senior citizens in jubilant mood greeted each other while kids clad in traditional attire played around merrily.
Upholding the principle of being ‘plastic free,’ Banana leaves were used during the grand community feast.
‘Do what is right’
Addressing the celebration amidst a large turn-out of around 4200 people, peace activist, Niketu Iralu called upon the people to do what is right for oneself, which will ultimately transmit a positive image to the masses.
Iralu also stressed on the need to restore the process of development and governance. He further called upon the people to broaden their horizon and focus towards brighter facets of society. He encouraged the gathering to be aware of their history in order to chart a way for the future.
The souvenir, in commemoration of 75th anniversary of KRN was released by Christine Iralu. Earlier, Iralu unveiled the monolith of Dr AZ Phizo Park at Khonoma.
Outstanding members felicitated
In the second session, the KRN felicitated the outstanding members in recognition of their excellence and contributions in the various fields.
The recipients included Neiphreno Iralu- HSLC topper, Nikesa Sakhrie- Gold medalist (Archery), Vizobilie Punyü- Power lifter (Gold Medalist) and Chathavi Vuprü –Pianist.
The recipients of the senior citizens award included Nyielongu-ü Liegise, Abi Yalie and Kuolacalie Seyie.
