SRSU conducts skill training and orientation conclave

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The Suruhuto Range Students Union (SRSU) media cell informed that a skill training and orientation conclave was held on April 27 and 28 at Suruhuto, under the theme ‘Skilling the Youth for the Future.’ 

A team for event partner YouthNet conducted orientation lectures and assessment on multiple topics that included capacity building on self entrepreneurship, skill development and soft skills. They also carried out identification based on skills and educational qualifications towards effective utilisation of human resource development under Suruhuto sub division to undergo training under various Government schemes. 

Team leader of YN for the conclave Tsipli was of the view that many registered youth were in a position to get jobs in the private sector, without any major training but only orientation. She was pleased to see the enthusiasm of the participants in spite of the limited exposure in the sub-division, the release stated.

President Hipito Achumi stated that Global Network Group subsidiary vertical Atoqa Tea Producer Limited would be funding the programme and closely working in partnership with SRSU initiative which is supported by YouthNet. Further, based on the response, it also plans to train trainers under the banner of SRSU to carry out skill orientation to 36 villages in its jurisdiction targeting the youths, the release stated.
It said that the student body’s effort is to empower the youth by giving them exposure to take on the challenges of dynamic changing work environments, towards helping build a self sustainable local economy under Suruhuto. It stated that full focus was on grass root development as key result area of the organisation, stressing that effective utilisation of human resource development is an inescapable exercise. 
Representing the Global Network Group, Kheto Zhimomi , project manager of Naga Hill Agro enterprise informed that GNG would also absorb candidates into the organisation and co-partner organisations, based on competency. 
The two day conclave was a huge success with 150 registered youths, out of which 36 were shortlisted to undergo various skill training programmes under GoI schemes. GNG is also affiliated with Global Peers Training Institute in Sovima and some few candidates would be undergoing 4-5 months free training under various sectors as part of phase 2. The last phase would include job placements in order to give the youths work experience based on vacancies. 
Meanwhile, SRSU extended gratitude to YouthNet and GNG for supporting the initiative and the area elders, citizens under Suruhuto / Asuto block for facilitating and supporting the youth to attend the programme.
