Dimapur, August 31 (MExN): Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) conducted an inter-house literary competition which concluded on August 30.
A press release issued by the school stated that the competition was organized “with an objective to broaden the horizon of the cadets and improve their self confidence, verbal and written expression, and communicative skill in English.”
It stated that as part of the event, various activities and competitions such as calligraphy, essay writing, story writing, extempore speech and debate were conducted to hone the skills of writing and speaking. “Cadets were fruitfully engaged in these competitions and had showcased their literary talents in the language with appreciation and love for the language,” it added.
The debate competition was conducted on the topic, “Is US-China trade war an opportunity for India to project itself as a global market?”The Principal Gp Capt Prasun Basu, attended the event as chief guest and presented prizes and trophy to the winning cadets of different houses. Patkai House emerged victorious in the competition and lifted the trophy. The Chief Guest addressed the cadets and emphasized on the importance of developing the ability to give an extempore on any given topic especially current affairs. He also complemented on the sincere efforts of the cadets and staff, the release added.
