Kohima, July 28 (MExN): Loyola Higher Secondary School Church, Jakhama, the first mission centre of the Jesuits Good News Ministry in Nagaland, commemorated the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of Jesuit Order and the patron of the school, on July 28. The Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola is officially celebrated on July 31.
Reverend Father Joseph Chittissery S.D.B., Rector, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima was the main celebrant. He highlighted the lives of saints from Jesuit congregation, while also informing that the present Pope Francis is a Jesuit priest.
The Rector further stressed on how Mother Teresa shared the love of Jesus in the street of Kolkata and challenged the large gathering of faithful to serve Jesus’ kingdom through all for the greater glory of God, stated a press release from P. Tepekrovi Kiso.
Reverend Father Charles D’Souza SJ, Parish Priest of Mary Help of Christians, Jakhama gave a brief introduction of St Ignatius. He stated that the Jesuits ministry was for education, global peace, and justice.
On the occasion, felicitation voice and action were performed by Jesuits candidates and students. Reverend Father Victor D’Mello SJ, Principal of Loyola Higher Secondary School expressed words of gratitude.
Priests and nuns from different parts of Nagaland and neighbouring villagers, including old pupils, joined the sacred ceremony.
