St John College celebrates ‘World Heritage Week’

Department of History, St John College with staff and others during the celebration of ‘World Heritage Week’ in the College premises.
Dimapur, November 28 (MExN): The Department of History, St John College celebrated the ‘World Heritage Week’ as observed by UNESCO from November 19 to 25 in the College premises.
The celebration was inaugurated with a lecture on ‘Importance & Significance of Heritage in Identity Formation,’ delivered by Mukutar R Saikia, head of the department.
With this the department also published one souvenir on “A Glimpse of the Historical Sites of Nagaland” edited by Kuvethilu Thuluo, Assistant Professor, History, to make people more aware for the preservation and protection of the historical sites of the state. The contents have been written by the 6th semester honors students on various historical sites of Nagaland.
The celebration concluded with a lecture on ‘History of Human Evolution,’ delivered by Professor ST Janetius, Principal, St John College. In his lecture Prof Janetius enlightened the students with a detailed report on human evolution and also mentioned about the importance of archaeological findings in the history writing process.
