St John College joins fight against gender-based violence
Students participating in the function held to mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women organized by Department of English, St. John College, Dimapur on November 25.
Dimapur, November 25 (MExN): To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Department of English, St. John College, Dimapur organized various competitions based on the theme and poster display in the college campus on November 25.
A formal programme was organized at the college auditorium a short speech was delivered by Kuvithelu, Asst. Professor, Department of History. She highlighted on the historical account of violence against women in Nagaland and urged to stop endorsing rape culture.
Streamlet Bathari, HoD Department of English talked about the issue of violence against women. She raised the issue of eve teasing and domestic violence. She also shared personal experiences of how she herself faced stereotypes as a woman.
Students took active part in the event which concluded with vote of thanks by Inakali Assumi, Asst. Professor, Department of English.
