St John School, Kiusam annual sports event held

St John School, Kiusam celebrated the inauguration of its annual sports event on March 31.

Kiphire, March 31 (MExN): St John School, Kiusam celebrated the inauguration of its annual sports event on March 31, with Kevilhoukho Rio, North East Contractor (NEC), Nagaland, as the chief guest.

Rio was accompanied by special guests Neibulie Rio and Tsemy Tep, an engineer from NEC. Other guests included Rev Fr Philip Magh, Principal of Loyola Hr Sec School, Kiphire; Rev Fr Marius Patton, Vice Principal of Loyola Hr Sec School; Rev Sr Lucy; Simon Anar; alongside various public leaders, pastors, parents, and others.

In his inaugural address, the chief guest underscored the paramount importance of sportsmanship, emphasizing the values of teamwork, focus, and excellence. He urged students to cultivate discipline and develop their skills, highlighting the significant contributions of sports and games to both mental and physical well-being. He further encouraged the students to identify their talents and pursue excellence in their chosen endeavours.

 

The welcoming address was delivered by Rev Fr Thomas Toretkiu, Principal of St John School, Kiusam with exhortation by Rev Fr Philip Magh. The event featured a prayer dance, welcome song, unfurling of the school flag, and lighting of the sports torch by the chief guest, followed by a march past conducted by the four school houses. The programme also included a drill display, cultural dances, and a special performance by the nursery students. Adani David, Headmaster, concluded the formal proceedings with a vote of thanks.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, the chief guest officially declared the annual games and sports open, personally visiting each house to extend his best wishes to the participants.
