DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The St. Joseph University hosted its 1st Music and Art Festival, ‘Campus Crescendo: Uniting University Minds in Song’ on October 31 at its campus. 

This historic event marked a significant milestone for our institution, bringing together students, faculty and music enthusiasts from diverse background to celebrate the fusion of music and art. The festival was meticulously organized by a dedicated committee comprising the higher authorities and faculties. 

Their collaboration efforts ensured the seamless execution of the event, from coordinating performances to curating exhibitions, making the festival a memorable experience for all attendees.

The festival was graced by Hito Kiho, founder and conductor of the Nagaland Madrigal Singers (TNMS) as guest of honour. He was accompanied by his wife Niutoli Jimomi. Vice-Chancellor, Dr D Gnanadurai, special guest Rev Sr Gnanaselvam DMI, DFT-President, Chennai were also present. 

The festival kicked off with solo performances that captivated the audience. Participants exhibited remarkable skill and passion, delivering soul-stirring renditions of contemporary hits. Bands from various genres took the stage, creating an electrifying atmosphere. The fusion of instruments, vocals and creativity showcased the versatility of musical expression, leaving the audience enthralled. 

A panel of experienced judges, comprising renowned musicians and music experts, meticulously evaluated the performances. The three judges for the fest was Kevisekuo Sechu, HoD at Margaret Shishak School of Music, Patkai Christian College, Tokaholi Chishi, Assistant Professor, SJU and Dr A Khou Stephen, Assistant Professor, SJU. 

In the solo category, Wekupe Therie was declared winner and Lungbui was the runner up. In Battle of the Bands category, The Ecstasy was declared the winner and Lunar Groove was the adjudged as the runner up.
