Sazo urges students to expand vision and horizon

St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama today held its Graduation Day 2016 with Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Chotisuh Sazo as the chief guest.
Congratulating all the graduating students, Sazo extended sincere appreciation to the management board, principal and staff of the college for imparting quality education “to our people since its inception.”
He encouraged the students to explore their talents and gifts and utilize the same to their benefit.
“Let us expand our vision and horizon,” he said and at the same time challenged the students to dream big and translate their dreams into action.
On notion of many people that there is unemployment problem in the state, he said every educated person cannot get job in the government sector and no government in the world will be able to provide government job to all its citizens.
“There are many other avenues where our youth can be employed. We have to venture out of our state too,” Sazo said.
On the other hand, he questioned why there should be unemployment when many outsiders from all over the country are coming to the North Eastern states and comfortably earning their livelihood and doing big businesses in “our” states.
St. Joseph’s College principal Rev. Fr. Dr. Sebastian Ousepparampil said the present enrolment of the college stands at 3355 with 1,612 males and 1,743 females.
He said the college has set up LCDs in all the classrooms, CCTVs installed in the main building as well as in the science building, Hi grade system installed to monitor the college through a proper system in alliance with Bosco Tech Chennai.
He highlighted the future thrust of the college, which include International Student Centre in the aegis of IIE Centre, agricultural orientation, post graduate studies, deem to be university, agricultural streams, job oriented curriculum, International Centre for Naga Cultural Studies (Certificate course) etc.
Mharhomo V. Murry, recipient of Governor’s Gold Medal for the best graduate 2016 shared with fellow graduating students that “This is not the end but this is the beginning. It is a time that we take greater responsibility because now the society has greater expectation from us. We have just crossed the bridge but we have mountain to climb.”
During the Graduation Day, the college gave away annual awards including awards to rank holders, all graduates, special award for successful candidates from its UPSC, NPSC Coaching Centre based in Kohima. NCC scholarships were also given on the occasion.
