To stand against any threat to state's ‘unity’

Newmai News Network Imphal | October 31 A rally was held in Imphal organised by the United Committee, Manipur (UCM) as part of a movement towards protecting the integrity of Manipur, and to stand against any threat to Manipur in every aspect.   The rally which started from TRAU Ground in Imphal West district late this morning, and passed through Wahengbam Leikai, Nagamapal, Thangmeiband and then to Khuman Lampak Hockey Ground where a public meeting was held.   During the meeting, three resolutions were taken. One of the resolutions said that the people of Manipur will stand against any threat or challenge to the State’s political, social, historical, economical identity and unity, and also against the extension of Article 371 clause A or similar implementation including Autonomous Regional Council. The second resolution said that the people will stand against any divisive force trying to distort or disintegrate the "age old unity" and integrity of Manipur. The third and the final resolution said that if the Government of India attempts to disintegrate Manipur against the "wishes" of the people then the people will face the challenge together.   Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Karam, President of the UCM said that the Prime Minister of India should be made known about the "wishes" of the people of the State.   During the rally, security measures were adequately taken up by the State Government as a pre-emptive measure.
