Kohima: Minister of Higher Education & SCERT, Nagaland, Deo Nukhu inaugurated the Master of Education (M.Ed) programme at the State College of Teacher Education (SCTE) on February 28.
Speaking on the occasion, Deo Nukhu said that we are in need of people who can teach the teachers and emphasized on the importance of the M.Ed programme. He said that more than fifty percent of the teachers in the State are untrained and stated they have to be trained in the next three years in order to have quality education. He asserted that the task ahead is great and urged upon all concerned to give importance to trainings and research oriented projects.
Commissioner & Secretary, Higher Education, F.P. Solo in his speech lauded the officials concerned for making the M.Ed programme a reality and called it is a milestone achievement in the history of education in the state. He said that teachers’ education has come to play an important role in the State and added there cannot be quality education without trained teachers.
Asst. Prof. SCTE- Kohima, Khriezonuo chaired the inaugural function. Welcome address was given by Dr. (Mrs) R.K. Iralu, Principal, SCTE-Kohima. Special song was presented by B.Ed trainees. Speeches were also delivered by M.Ed. students and Neizekhonuo, Asst. Prof. SCTE-Kohima. Vote of thanks was given by Runi Nakro, Asst. Prof. SCTE-Kohima.
