Highlights difference of SOPs between educational institutions and religious places
Wokha, February 14 (MExN): Following the State government’s decision to allow places of worship to open at full capacity, the Janata Dal (U) Nagaland on Sunday termed the government’s Standard Operations Procedures (SOPs) ‘contradictory’.
“The JDU does not find any merit in the difference of SOPs between educational institutions and religious places,” a statement issued by the party’s Press and Publicity Wing read.
It said that while the new SOP allows religious places to open at full capacity, “then where is the logic in permitting the education institutions to resume normal classes only for students of Class VI and above?”
The JDU noted that if the reason for preventing educational institutions resuming classes for students below class 6 is because they ‘are children who are more prone to COVID-19 virus,’, then the latest SOP is “devoid of any sense” as in Nagaland, the Church is attended by the young and old alike.
In this regard, the JDU urged the authority to be more judicious while dealing with resumption of activities post-COVID-19 and its relevant measures.
