State government constitutes Task Force for Accessibility Audit

Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): In view of the Accessible India Campaign conceptualized by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for accessibility of Persons with Disabilities, the Government of Nagaland has constituted a Task Force for conducting Accessibility Audit of government buildings.  

30 Government buildings in Kohima have been identified for Accessibility Audit and the physical inspection and audit of each of the selected building by the State Task Force will commence from April 12-19. The main components of Accessible India Campaign are environment accessibility, transportation accessibility and information & communication system accessibility. Each department is to submit an estimate to Social Welfare Department within One month of the inspection.

  The Task force will consists of Commissioner, Disabilities, Dr. Atha Vizol as Chairperson; Assistant Director, Directorate of Social Welfare, Michael Zaren – Nodal officer; and Executive Engineer, Social Welfare Department, Er. Kezholel Rhetso as Member.  

The government building identified for Accessibility Audit and conversion into fully accessible buildings are as follows: Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima Civil Hospital, DC office, PHQ, under construction Commissions building, NPSC, AG, Administrative Training Institute, Kohima Municipal Council, New Super Market under Urban Development, IG Stadium, Kohima Local Ground, Commissioner’s office, Head Post Office, Kohima Science College, Kohima Arts College, Directorates of Employment Exchange, Social Welfare, Irrigation & Flood Control, Health & Family Welfare, School Education, Industries & Commerce, IT & C, Works & Housing, PHE, Power, Higher and Technical Education, Rural Development, Youth Resources & Sports, Employment & Craftsmen.
