Dimapur, January 7 (MExN): “Adhering to the policy of tolerance and patience” the NSCN (IM) today said that it has exercised “extreme restraint not to dampen the atmosphere of peace.” In an MIP statement, it stated, “however, interpreting this as a sign of weakness and thereby indulging in all sorts of immoral and anti-people activities will prove costly in the ultimate analysis of the issue which is turning ugly day by day”.
Stating that “Obsession can turn out to be a dangerous affair when rationality is not given its due place to translate obsession as a guiding force” the statement elaborated that “the prevailing situation clearly shows how some members of Western Sumi Hoho and Sumi Hoho exploited Naga people’s obsession with Naga unification in an overbearing manner, showing scant regard to the official norms of the NSCN/GPRN and obsessively showing its action as though they are the deciding force in the matter of Naga affairs.”
The MIP said that the unification move “started wrongly and arrogantly” it said “the Western Sumi Hoho and Sumi Hoho are unreading on the colliding course with NSCN”. It stated that “these two Sumi organizations have even gone to the extend of questioning the integrity of NSCN Chairman Isak Chishi Swu, swearing by the name of the dismissed Kilo Kilonser as their leader” the statement stated that “this open challenge has been forced upon NSCN and the NSCN does not take this lightly.”
“History and Naga people shall witness who is right and who is wrong,” the MIP said. It also stated that “the God-fearing people among the Sumi community who have taken side with Azheto Chophy by mocking at the national order issued by Chairman Isak Chishi Swu dismissing Azheto from national service after having been convicted of high treason, will also be a witness to the unfolding events to be recorded in history to testify who has brought about polarization in the Naga political movement.”
The MIP questioned the government and said that “with a calculated move, the state administrative and its law enforcing departments are turning a blind eye to the kidnapping spree resorted by the Azheto unification team.” The MIP statement asked “why do they choose to remain silent on the kidnapping for ransom? How many crores have been collected by Azheto, keeping the ransomed amount to anybody’s guess?”
The NSCN (IM) informed that “among the latest victim is Mr. Shekhar, a permanent resident and brother of Mr.Bimol of Purana Bazar who was kidnapped three days ago by Azheto and his unity team members”.
The MIP statement also queried asking as to “what have the Sumi Pastors and Church leaders to say about the manifesting character in the person called Azheto whom they have claimed a hero?” Continuing it noted that “before the unification move was initiated by Azheto in collaboration with WSH and SH, the case of kidnapping for ransom was almost under control by State Police force and the NSCN.”
Expressing that “the Naga people judge who is doing what behind the façade of Naga unification program” the statement demanded “the immediate release of Shekhar and others kidnapped by Azheto group.” The MIP also informed businessmen “to be on full alert and bring the matter to NSCN authority”. Besides it warned the state and district administration that “if they deliberately feign ignorance to the kidnapping spree, the NSCN will be forced to act on its own to defend the nation’s interest of delivering justice.”
