State govt commits to revoke absorption order: CTAN, NNGF

•    Sets April 28 deadline to receive official revocation documents

•    Warns of intensified agitation if assurances are not fulfilled

DIMAPUR, APRIL 26 (MExN): Representatives of the Combined Technical Association Nagaland (CTAN) and the Nagaland NET Qualified Forum (NNGF) met with the Minister for Tourism and Higher Education, Temjen Imna Along, at his official residence on April 26 to discuss the issue of absorption and regularisation of 147 posts of Assistant Professors in higher education institutions.

According to a joint statement issued by the two organisations, the meeting was held following an official invitation from the Minister. During the discussion, it was conveyed and agreed upon that the cabinet order dated December 17, 2024—which had approved the absorption and regularisation of 147 posts of Assistant Professors—would be revoked. It was also agreed that the committee constituted during the emergency cabinet meeting on April 21, 2025, would be dissolved.

CTAN and NNGF stated that while these assurances were made by the Minister during the meeting, they will await formal, written copies of the revocation order and the dissolution of the committee. The organisations further asserted that if the official documents are not received by April 28, they will be left with no option but to escalate the ongoing agitation beyond its current level, which has been sustained over the past four days.

A joint press conference is scheduled to be held on Monday by CTAN and NNGF, following the release of the aforementioned documents.
