State govt provides reliefs in Mon District

Officials undertake physical verification in Mon, Tuli

Kohima, April 26 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department along with the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Mon (DDMA Mon) physically verified the destruction caused by the recent hailstorm, windstorm and heavy rainfall in Mon district April 25 and released financial relief to the concern DDMA as per the ceiling/guidelines set by the Central Ministry, an State Government Official informed today.  

During the inspection, the team reported that 20 more houses were completely damaged out of which 16 houses are pucca and 4 kutcha, taking the total to 70 damaged households, in Techahan Ward (Mon Town), said a press release from the Secretary to the Government of Nagaland Khrienuo Metha.  

To this end, temporary relief shelter for the displaced families has been set up at DTC Mon and ten (10) families have taken temporary shelter there, it said.  

The release further informed that an emergency medical team has also been constituted to attend to the affected families for medical first aid and also to take precaution against outbreak of epidemics or diseases.  

The DDMA Mon is also assisting the displaced families to transport families and belongings to safer places, it added. It also informed that 30 more houses are reported to be damaged in Ukha Village taking the toll to 330. Damages have also been reported in Yonghong and Chingkao villages. The NSDMA and the DDMA is working fervently to provide assistance and relief to the affected families, it maintained  

The released further said that the flash flood that recently hit areas in Tuli and Tzudikong have returned to normal.
