‘State govt satisfied with law & order’

Dimapur, Oct 17 (MExN): The State government is ‘satisfied with its performance in containing the law and order problem’ in the state and as such, the matter of undergrounds fighting among themselves does not come under state subject, according to Urban Planning Minister Dr Shurhozelie.
“We are fully aware that law and order is a state subject. The present government is doing well in containing law and order problem. We are fully aware of our responsibilities and are satisfied with our performances in containing law and order problem”, Dr Shurhozelie said in reaction to a recent news item over prevailing law and order situation in the state. He said that the Naga people are aware that factional clashes taking place from time to time between different underground groups and these groups are “there for political reasons”, directly entering into a ceasefire agreement with the Government of India.

“Also they have direct link/contact with the government of India. The state government never interferes with their dealings with the government of India. If they have entered into ceasefire agreement with political reasons, it will mean that they are also fighting among themselves for political reasons. If so, it does not come under law and order subject. Therefore, state government cannot be blamed for these unfortunate happenings” Dr Shurhozelie washed his hands.
