State wide mega NEPEx today

Kohima, August 29 (DIPR): As part of the NEPEx to be held on August 30 all over the State, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority has given the following information for the preparedness exercise taking the earthquake scenario of 8.4 magnitudes Richter scale in Nagaland.  

1. Preparedness exercise of earthquake scenario of 8.4 magnitudes will be carried out statewide on August 30.

2. Siren will be sounded at 11:00 am in the secretariat plaza ground.

3. After Siren is sounded all secretariat staffs are requested to drop hold and cover under your respective working table for about 2 minutes.

4. After 2 minutes have been requested to go out of the rooms assuming earthquake shock is over and safe to go out to be gathered in an open space (Secretariat Plaza).

5. After this exercise one can go back to their own respective rooms for resuming normal office work. 6. This is just a preparatory exercise and public have been requested not to panic.  

Kohima district table top Exercise in preparation for NEPEx

The Kohima District Table Top Exercise in preparation for Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) was held on August 20 at the Deputy Commissioner’s office conference hall at 11.00 am. ADC, Kohima, T.L. KiusungmongTikhir chairing the programme said, the whole state at one go will conduct a mega mock drill on August 30. He pointed that it is an opportunity for everyone to prepare for the actual eventuality.  

The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) informed that the NDM has been actively conducting exercises for over six years. The NSDMA further informed that the mega mock drill on Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) will be conducted every year. 16 important locations have already been identified for the exercise.  

The central Indian Army and the National Disaster Management Authority will be Field Observers. The general public has also been informed that the siren will blow for 2 minutes at 11.00 am, after which the actual mock drill will begin. Different Incident Response System Team has been set up, to monitor the problems arising during the mock drill.   At the Table Top Exercise of Kohima District, five minutes time was given to operation logistic and planning in-charges.  

Zunheboto prepares for mock drill exercise

As part of Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) mega mock exercise NEPEx, a top table exercise was held at DC’s Chamber on August 29. Deputy Commissioner, T. Roy, in his keynote address to all officers and stakeholders of ZDDMA, stated that Nagaland is prone to disasters like earthquakes, landslides, mudslides and cloudburst for which we must be well prepared. He urged upon all the stakeholders that disaster comes without any warning and so the officials and the citizen needs to be prepared for any eventuality for which the government is exercising a mock drill to prepare ourselves.  

During the exercise, District Commandant, Home Guard and Civil Defence, Y. Khenito Chishi spoke on Role of Responsible Officers and its command and operation section while SDO (C), Er. Namang Chang Sepong gave a briefing on Planning, Logistic Section and Mock drill. EAC, Wiridin who chaired the program also called upon all the officers to give best possible support for the mega mock exercise to be held on August 30.

Wokha district gears up for mock-drill

Wokha district will be conducting mock drill on August 30. The mega mock drill exercise will be conducted in five locations, (commercial & residential) namely Police Point, Power House (Tsumang Colony), GHSS, DBHSS and Etsuchuka Colony.  

Rescue & Operation and evacuation of injured and casualties during emergency will be demonstrated. Fire scenario and rescue of high rise unstable building will be demonstrating in the specified identified locations.  

In this regard a meeting was held at DC conference hall Wokha on August 29. During the meeting the Sections Chiefs like Operation, Planning and Logistic, District Commandant HG & CD, District Planning Officer and Addl. SP Tokavi Achumi, highlighted and briefed the members about their roles and assignments to various units, sections and divisions involved during the exercise. ADC, Wokha Thavaseelan highlighted the role of RO and its Command staff. The meeting was chaired by EAC, Wokha Athrong.  

NEPEx exercise meeting at Peren

A two day programme on Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) on August 29 and 30 began at old Peren on Tuesday. The programme was organised by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA). The NEPEx programme is a state wide mega mock exercise to test the capability of the Government to respond and to manage any mega impending disaster. ADC PerenS.Tainu chaired the programme.
