Dimapur, June 8 (MExN): The Election department today clarified on reports regarding missing electors’ names in the Electoral Rolls being used for the ongoing Electors’ Photo Identity Cards/Photo Electoral Rolls campaign. Chief Electoral Officer Nagaland J Alam clarified in a press release today that while the current campaign is based on the most recent electoral rolls, the annual revision of the rolls would be undertaken during the months of October-November 2011.
“In this connection it is clarified that the Electoral Rolls being used for the ongoing photography campaign were updated during the revision of electoral rolls last year and finally published on 5th January 2011. The revision of Electoral Rolls is carried out every year and ample opportunity is given to every elector to enroll as voters,” the chief electoral officer stated. While the current campaign is based on the most recent electoral rolls, the annual exercise to revise these rolls will be undertaken during the months of October, November 2011, the department stated. “All the genuine voters whose names are missing from the current electoral rolls are advised to watch out for the next opportunity of revision of electoral rolls when the process of addition/deletion of names and correction of particulars such as change in the names, age, address etc will be carried out,” the CEO stated. The Additional Deputy Commissioner, the Electoral Registration Officer of district may be contacted for further details.
