Streamlining departments to bring development in Shamator

SHAMATOR, APRIL 7 (MExN):  Evincing the desire to develop Shamator town, Parliamentary Secretary for CAWD, R Tohanba, has decided to streamline every department by the month of May with an aim to promote developmental activities in the constituency, while also making a fervent appeal to all government officials to do away with political affiliations. He pointed out that such attitudes could impede development activities.

Addressing a departmental coordination meeting in the DBs’ Court in Shamator on April 5, the Parliamentary Secretary has assured his all out support for the development of Shamator town. To materialise his vision, Tohanba has decided to streamline every department in the town by the month of May for taking up developmental works / activities.

The Parliamentary Secretary has also appealed for the government officials to shun political leanings during the course of implementing developmental activities while maintaining that such attitudes from the government officials would only impede the works.

To promote business activities in Shamator town, Tohanba has advocated the formation of a Chamber of Commerce and Industry unit to oversee problems of the business community. He also sought assistance and cooperation from the officers for expansion of Shamatore town.

Shamator Additional Deputy Commissioner, Yanpvuthung Lotha, who also chaired the meeting, highlighted on the anomalies prevailing in many departments of the sub-division. He squarely pointed out the malfunctioning of departments, particularly Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, PWD (R &B) and Rural Development.

The ADC appraised the house that the reliever for the Junior Engineer in Power Department, who was transferred, was yet to be made till date. He also asserted the need for the PHED to be revamped.

The demand for construction of quality roads was unanimous from the GBs and DBs present in the meeting. In response to the demand, Tohanba suggested an alternate arrangement by seeking funds from the central government.

Also to equip young entrepreneurs in their pursuit of  self employment, the house decided to conduct a seminar for the youth drawn from Chessore and Shamator. SBI official have been entrusted to present papers on the procedure for acquiring loans and recovery patterns.

Presenting the department’s activities, Medical Officer Philip Chang, suggested upgradation of PHC to CHC at par with other blocks. The Soil Conservation Department also highlighted on the pathetic condition of office buildings which it claimed are on the verge of collapse, while the Village Guard also shared its grievances.
