Zunheboto, July 26 (MExN): District IEC/BCC activity on Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) was held on July 20 and 25 respectively at North Point and South Point Colony in Zunheboto Town.
Initiated by District Health Society, a street play on the topic ‘Ill effect of drug abuse and anaemia and risk factors during the adolescent period’ was performed by the students of Nito Theological College, Zunheboto during the programme.
Dr. Hoito Sema, Deputy CMO, Zunheboto highlighted the risks in early pregnancy during adolescent, informed a press release. He shared the importance of adolescent activity and encouraged the youth to do away with unwanted elements and motivated the participants to live a healthy and exemplary life. He also sensitized the members on adolescent health, spiritual and mental well being, the physical and the emotional changes that happen during the adolescent period.
Dr. Hoito also emphasised going for regular check up as it is the first step towards the safety and qualitative life and also taking out some quality time for oneself – spend it with friends and family. He motivated to stay away from junk food and quit smoking and consumption of alcohol for better health.
Meanwhile, the CMO encouraged creating awareness among the people for anaemia and how it is majorly caused due to the careless lifestyle choices. Changed lifestyle and stressful schedule have resulted in anaemia as a lifestyle disease, he added.
The youth were urged to avail the services provided at the ARSH clinics at District Hospital and CHCs. After the play, documentary on ARSH was shown and free IEC materials and bookmarks were distributed.
