Dimapur, Sept 24 (MExN): The Litsami Students Union , expressing deep pain over a factional clash at Litsami village recently, condemned the September 22 incident where innocent public were used as human shields by factions and the subsequent unleashing of terror and destruction of the village ignoring pleas of the public to shun from such actions.
The students union through its President Tokivi Y Sumi and General Secretary Kakiye I Chishi state that one Satoli Chishi was seriously injured with multiple bullets in her body. The union made it clear that both the factions are responsible for compensating the victim as well as recovery of residential properties damaged.
“It is well aware of the factions that it is high time for the cultivators (public) in harvesting the whole year’s labor; where people survive on the only source of their livelihood, has been disturbed by the factions’ clashes and keeping the general public in chaos” the union stated. The students body of Litsami also requested the state government to extend adequate assistance to the victim as well as for the properties damaged, and to the district administration to take actions to restore law and order. The union also appealed to the factions not to indulge in violence in public places but try to maintain cordial relation with the general public.
