Students’ union in Kiphire objects to teacher transfer amidst staff shortage

KIPHIRE, May 6 (MExN): The Seyochung Village Students' Union (SVSU) has raised objections to the recent transfer of a graduate teacher from Government High School (GHS) Seyochung Village to another school in the district, citing an already critical shortage of teaching staff at the institution.

In a representation addressed to the Principal Director of School Education, the union stated that GHS Seyochung Village has long struggled with insufficient faculty despite multiple appeals for additional teachers. The latest transfer, they argued, has further weakened the teaching capacity at the school, affecting the quality of education and potentially jeopardizing the academic future of students in the area.

“This action comes as a serious blow to the school and the community that has been striving to ensure better educational facilities in the region,” the SVSU stated.

The transfer was reportedly carried out under an order issued by the Nagaland Education Mission Society, Samagra Shiksha, on April 17. Urging the department to reconsider the transfer, the SVSU called for urgent measures to ensure that GHS Seyochung Village is equipped with sufficient teaching staff. The union said that equitable distribution of teachers is essential, especially in remote and underserved areas like Seyochung, to uphold the right to quality education.
