Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): The Sumi Community of Seyochung Village today demanded an appropriate action against the persons involved, on what it termed, in the “evil acts upon the Sumis of Seyochung Village”. A press statement issued by the ‘Sumi Community, Seyochung Village’ GB & Chairman, Shivito Sumi and Secretary, Phutoi Sumi, said that “Sumis” were assaulted on the evening of December 24, 2007 and added that the ‘administration has verified and acknowledged that the Sumis were indeed assaulted’. However, the release expressed surprise that ‘no appropriate action has been initiated against the person involved in the crime till date’.
“That also shows how an officer who is supposed to show no favouritism has acted in such a way,” the release decried. The release, in this regard, strongly resented that even after the lapse of 19 days after the incident; the concern administration had not shown “its sincerity and integrity in dealing with the case”. Therefore, it requested the administration to be a neutral body without bias and book and punish the persons involved in the case accordingly.
