Government completes rural housing at Changlangshu Village
Mon, April 7 (MExN): Completion programme of rural housing by the Department of Rural Development, Government of Nagaland and individual household latrines by the Department of PHED in Changlangshu Village was on April 5 with Tokheho, Minister PHED and CL John, Minister, Rural Development & REPA as the chief guests.
Tokheho, Minister PHED said that the support of the Church for development is very essential and vital. He said that in Nagaland, churches and prayer centers are appearing in every nook and corner but honesty is disappearing from every man and woman. He said that the Government employees should not become liabilities to the State by just sitting at home and waiting for their salary to be transferred into their respective accounts. He further said that for Nagas as Christians, going to office should be as important as going to Church and being honest should be more important than giving donations to the Church.
CL John, Minister, Rural Development & REPA while highlighting the difficulty in achieving rapid development due to the limited fund flow, also spoke of the significance of Aoleang Festival that it is about restoring relationship by giving and sharing in the name of festival. Eshak Konyak, Parliamentary Secretary, Art and Culture who also attended the programme challenged the people that the public should try to convert their support during elections into development and not into individual self benefit.
T Sangtam, Superintending Engineer, PHED Dimapur circle who spoke on behalf of the Department stated that the sanitation programme of PHED, Department is very basic measure to prevent diseases. He said that the completion of the IHHLs in Changlangshu under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) 2014-15 is a preventive step and he expects that the Village will have a healthy and clean environment.
The programme was chaired by Zibenthung Kithan, ADC Tobu and welcome address was delivered by Naiba Konyak, Advisor NBDA and NEPED. Manching Konyak, DPO DRDA Mon highlighted that the Rural Housing was completed under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) and Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) of MoRD (GOI) and augmented by Grant in Aid (GIA) scheme of the State Government. The programme ended with Aoleang folk dance and Aoleang Feast.
After the programme, CL John, Minister, Rural Development & REPA also inaugurated the Agri-Link Road constructed under MGNREGA (2015-16) and Tokheho, Minister PHED inaugurated the new pipeline connection to Changlangshu Changsa village.
