Medziphema, October 2 (MExN): Medziphema Town Council (MTC) organized Swachh Bharat & Swachhata Hi Sewa programme on October 2 at main town junction with Zhaleo Rio, Parliamentary Secretary for Municipal Affairs as the chief guest.
Vikhweno Chale, ADC, Medziphema in her keynote address mentioned that Medziphema was the first town in Nagaland to be declared open defecation free town. She thanked the citizens of Medziphema town and village for appreciating the initiative taken up by her and staffs. The ADC added Swachh Bharat is the responsibility of all right thinking citizens, and it should first start from own homes. Appealing to the Medziphema citizens to avail the services provided by MTC and her staffs, Vikhweno requested the co-operation of all citizens as she and her staffs alone cannot fulfill the initiative taken up by them, a press release informed. She also disclosed that they are going to take up a scheme where dustbins will be provided to each ward/ colony.
Meanwhile, the chief guest appealed to the gathering to change their mindset and practice hygienic lifestyle and maintain green, healthy and pollution free environment. He also said waste management is equally important as population is increasing in and around Medziphema. The gathering was also urged to plant more trees for a better environment.

Earlier, Sanitary workers and waste collectors were also felicitated for their dedication towards ‘Clean Medziphema town’.
