DIMAPUR, JULY 26 (MExN): The Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 was launched in Nagaland by Dr Moangwati Aier, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, PHED on July 26 at the PHED Conference Hall.
The program was chaired by Er. KG Sumi, Chief Engineer, PHED. The introductory address on Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2018 was delivered by Er. Y Tep, Director, WSSO, PHED and the vote of thanks was delivered by Er. Repang Longkumer, Addl. Chief Engineer, PHED.
In his speech the special guest acknowledged the work done by the Director and consultants of WSSO and also spoke on the various aspects of the Sanitation survey. He urged the director, the Engineers and consultants to work with the Village Council and WATSAN committees and educate the villages through pictures, placards and convince them to keep their church, PHC, community bazaar, school and anganwadi clean and be ready for the survey team and is optimistic that Nagaland will do well and come out among the cleanest State in India.
The National Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) 2018 was launched by the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation on July 13, 2018 at Delhi. The ministry intends to conduct “Swachh Survekshan Grameen- 2018” (SSG, 2018) through an independent survey agency to develop ranking of the 680 districts, pan India on their rural sanitation status.
This ranking will be based on a comprehensive set of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (Swachhata) parameters. The SSG is expected to have an integrated Comprehensive 360 degree evaluation of the village Sanitation pan India.
The field work will be undertaken in August, following which, top performing States and Districts will be awarded on October 2. The SSG intends to engage rural community in improvement of their sanitation status through an intensive and holistic IEC campaign during this period.
