Rabindranath Tagore, the “Icon of Indian Culture”, who was also popularly known as poet, philosopher, musician, writer and educationist, as his legend lives on, his 150th Birth Anniversary, was celebrated here today at state academy hall, organized by United Tribal Society Dimapur, sponsored by NEZCC, Ministry of Culture and Art & Culture department, Nagaland.

Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Director, Directorate of Art & Culture, K. Kughazhe Yeputhomi refreshed Tagore’s contributions to the nation saying that it is endless to talk about Tagore 80 year’s involvement in many field. Putting in more that Tagore is a simple person like ‘us’, he said there are many young talented Nagas and “if you keep up your determination, your names will in-script in the history of human.”

Noel Manuel while delivering welcome note, he said the celebration of “Master of Many” will continue in the next 11 months across the country adding that Tagore has given this year to reflect upon how much we can achieve in lifetime, need to understand and a chance to create something in life and an opportunity to look beyond life we live. 
 
Earlier, the chief guest also distributed the prizes of the competition held in view of the celebration, in poetry, essay writing, cultural songs, cultural dance, art (sit and draw), extempore speech, and choir. Dimapur Music College presented Rabindra Sangeet while special dance in tribute to Tagore was performed by Sushmita Dey. Government officials and students from various schools attended the function.
