Takatula, mother of Dr SC Jamir, Governor of Odisha and former Nagaland Chief Minister and SI Jamir, Advisor for Urban Development Department passed away on March 12 morning in Dimapur.
She turned 102 on February 12, 2016.
Regarded as the ‘grand old lady,’ late Takatula was one of few survivors of early Naga Christians and epitomized as a woman of firm character upholding true Christian values. Having seen Nagas go through several stages- from head hunting to Christianity, from insurgency at its peak to relative calm, from primitive stage to the modern present, late Takatula had lived an eventful life.
Takatula leaves behind 7 children (3 daughters, 4 sons), 32 grand children and more than 50 great grandchildren. A short prayer service was held in Dimapur before departure to her native village Ungma in Mokokchung. The funeral service of Late Takatula will be held at Ungma village at 1pm.
